Some anionic dissolved and colloidal substances which are called anionic trashes will release during the pulping of wastepaper. These substances will affect the runnability of paper machines and the properties of paper. The effect of sodium of hydroxide (NaOH), hydrogen peroxide (H_2O_2) and temperature on the release of anionic trashes was studied. The effect of anionic trashes on the drainage properties of deinked pulp (DIP) was also investigated in this article.The results showed that the cationic demand and the conductivity increased with the increase of NaOH dosage and temperature. When the NaOH dosage was lower, the increase of the cationic demand with the increase of H_2O_2 dosage was more obvious than that when the NaOH dosage was higher. The drainage rate decreased due to the addition of anionic trashes. If polyethylenimine (PEI) was added prior to cationic polyacrylamide (CPAM), the drainage rate increased at the beginning and decreased later with the increase of PEI dosage.
