摘要

This paper presents an original approach to signal compression that makes use of fuzzy techniques and concepts like linguistic variables and values. In particular, two aspects are addressed: on one side, the tuning of the proposed fuzzy compression and decompression algorithm by means of an evolutionary algorithm; on the other side, the incorporation of available heuristic knowledge of the contents of an image in the proposed approach in order to achieve better performances.
