1. Based on full-scale survey, acid phase digesters typically achieved 40% - >90% release of phosphorus, while mesophilic anaerobic digester typically achieved 23% to 35% of total phosphorus to PO_4-P. 2. Acidogenically digested sludge can be effectively dewatered through dewatering centrifuge. 3. With an influent PO4-P cone, of ~300 mg-P/L, brushite precipitation produced an effluent with ~60 mg-P/L with Ca/P molar ratio of 1.2; while struvite crystallization can achieved an effluent of ~30 mg-P/L with Mg/P molar ratio of 1.2. The different kinetics of brushite and struvite formation lead to different application of the two phosphorus recovery methods.
