Exploration wells are currently being drilled in water depthsrnup to 10,000 feet. Completion of these ultra deepwater wellsrncreates demand for innovative well system and interventionrntechnology. Equipment design should not limit rig selectionrnduring initial installation or subsequent intervention activities.rnSelection of optimized intervention packages that function onrnboth moored and dynamically positioned (DP) vessels willrnprovide access to a wider rig market and create thernopportunity to make substantial life cycle cost savings. Thisrnpaper discusses unique design and operational requirementsrnfor the well system and intervention equipment to allow saferndeployment and operation from DP vessels.
