We developed a methodology for manually establishing tiernpoints of depth-equivalent surfaces in P-P and P-S seismicrndata volumes derived from a 4-C ocean bottom seismic surveyrnusing seismic attribute volumes viewed in time slices. Theserntie points were used as a basis for establishing interpretationsrnof depth-equivalent surfaces throughout the volumes that werernthen used as a basis for depth registration of several 2-Drnsections throughout the volume. We examine the Vp/Vs ratiosrnderived from this interpretation. While these ratios arernphysically reasonable, they are averaged over severalrnstratigraphic sequences and do not provided enough detail tornrepresent the true interval Vp/Vs values of a given sequence.rnHowever, we use these Vp/Vs ratios to correct therninterpretation and perform an initial registration of the P-Srnvolume to P-P two-way time. An analysis of the registered, orrn“warped”, P-S volume shows the limitations of this simplerntechnique, and from this we infer what processes must bernaddressed for a robust method of registration.
