Abstract: properties requirements indicate that forsecond-order guest host polymeric materials to be bothuseful in an engineering sense and cost effective theymust possess much greater thermal stability. Thisincreased thermal stability is required to maintainboth molecular alignment and intrinsic second-ordernonlinearity during device fabrication and interfacewith current state-of-the-art microelectronic systems.In this presentation a new molecular design andsynthetic strategy is presented to produce second-orderchromophores with much higher thermal stability.Preliminary results of electric field induced secondharmonic generation (EFISH) experiments on thesecompounds are revealed and a discussion of the use ofthese new molecules as second-order materials ispresented. !21
