The rapid and unprecedented growth in software hasrnbrought with it some of the most spectacular and costlyrnproject failures in modern history. How riskrnmanagement is presented in the scholarly journals mayrngive insight into the risk management methods andrntechniques in use on software development projects.rnThis paper provides a glimpse into the riskrnmanagement methods, methodologies and techniquesrnavailable to those who are responsible for softwarerndevelopment projects by conducting a nonexperimentalrncontent analysis. The findings reveal thatrnrisk management has not received sufficient attentionrnand does not appear to be widely accepted within thernsoftware engineering community.
