Corporate Internet, Intranet and Internet POP proliferation have urged the deployment of high-speed WANinterconnection. Frame Relay as one of WAN solution has been accepted well among data communicationusers in Indonesia particularly for. The service launched two years ago is currently available mainly in bigcities where banking community are existing. Variety of services are available in big cities such as ISDNwhich mainly based on wire-line access solution.The widespread distribution of manufacturing industry as well as mining industry has led to a demand forFrame Relay services in a wider //broader coverage not limited only in big cities but also in remote areaswhere telecommunication infrastructure not yet available.This paper describes how satellite communication in general and VSAT technology in particular will lead toframe Relay wider distribution across Indonesia.
