Abstract: An effective method of visualization and/or localization of the wave guiding structures is presented. It consists in the two-beam interference. The observation set-up can be related to the Fizeau interferometer but no reference mirror is needed for the observation. Fringe pattern arises from interference of the beams reflected from polished slab-to-air boundaries. The interference order is relatively high (3 10$+3$/@) thus the well-contrasted fringe pattern arises only with highly monochromatic illumination. !6
