Laser interferometry is an established technique for high precision measurements of length and vibration. The high linearity over the whole measuring range and the excellent precision are the main advantages of the homodyne principle of the laser interferometer. The main drawback of homodyne interferometers in industry applications is the necessity for high reflectance of the measuring object surfaces. A cube corner or plan mirror reflector has to be attached to the vibrating object for proper application of the that technique. The aim of this paper is to present a new modification of the interferometer for vibration analysis that is applicable for measurements at objects with industrial rough surfaces. The coupling of the laser light by the optical fibre provides the elimination of the temperature influences to the measurement environment and decreases the dimensions of the interferometer. The advantages of the system are high precision, high resolution and small dimensions of the sensor head.
