In this paper, the effect of water hammer on asbestos cement pipelines was investigated in hydrostatic test. The test experienced with water compressor. Pressure with this machine increased from 0 to 8.0 bar in B-class and C-class of asbestos cement pipelines. All of the A.V (Air valves) opened to release air from pipelines. Also, the test was performed up to 13.5 bar. After that we increased pressure slowly and constant rate, we saw that our gage show pressure with 1 bar tolerances. This tolerance was because of water hammer effect. These phenomena induced pipelines rupture. For solving this problem, pressure was increased in special manner. In this manner, two water compressors applied in endpoints of pipeline, concurrently. Two water compressors startup in one time. We saw that if standard method is used for ACP test, pressure will increase with 1 bar tolerance until water compressor is in line. The water hammer effect was considerable for large pipes.
