The H_2 can be generated from the aluminum water reaction. Hydrogen generation rate by using aluminum from soft drink was measured by immersing samples in H_2SO_4, Na_2SO_4, KOH, and NaOH solutions. No observable amount of hydrogen is generated in acidic or in neutral solutions. At a given concentration, the generation rate of H_2 is higher in NaOH solution than in KOH solution. High generation rate of H_2 is obtained in concentrated NaOH as well as in concentrated KOH solutions. The gas volume of H_2 generation can be fitted into a semi-empirical equation as function of reaction time. The H_2 generation rate can be divided into two stages. During the first stage, hydrogen generation rate increases as the reaction continued. It reaches a maximum then gradually reduced in the second stage of reaction.
