Energy saving is a crucial factor in industry. This paper discusses the energy saving of the tension system of a tensioner for a vessel. The tension system includes the hydraulic pressure clamping system and the AC servo motor. According to analysis, in the hydraulic pressure system the main energy consumption factor is the power source. So we have chosen the A7V.80.EL which is a kind of high-efficiency, energy saving, and high power variable capacity pump. Furthermore, we adopted MCU to control the flow rate and pressure of the system. In the AC servo motor system, according to the characteristic of high-power motor, we route a start and stop control through the transducer and fuzzy control in the working process to reduce the energy consumption. The test results indicate the energy saving effects.
