A new model for current-voltage characteristics andrnmaximum power operation of a photovoltaic (PV) modulernis presented which aims to model the effect on I-V and PVrncurves of varying climatic conditions. This model hasrnbeen implemented using the Matlab/Simulink programrnand is used to investigate the effect of meteorologicalrnconditions on the performance of a PV module generator.rnIn order to validate the developed simulation model,rnsimulated results from the model under standard conditionrnare compared with specifications given by thernmanufacturer. There is a very good agreement betweenrnthe results. In addition, it is shown that the maximumrnpower available at low temperatures is higher than that atrnhigher temperatures, and the maximum power is directlyrnproportional to irradiance. Afterwards, a PV array modelrnis derived. The benefit of improved curve fittingrnparameter is investigated as well.
