Mitsubishi’s M501G and M701G are large frame gas turbines utilizing steam-cooledrncombustors, and have a turbine inlet temperature of 1500 C. In 2002 the M701G gas turbine wasrnuprated and it is designated as M701G2. The M701G2 gas turbine melds the proven performancernof the original M701G and new technologies such as an advanced compressor that is based onrnMitsubishi’s H gas turbine technology which was successfully load tested in 2001 underrncombined cycle operation. Shop load testing of the M701G2 gas turbine was completed in Mayrn2002. More than 1800 special measurement points were monitored for design, reliability andrnperformance verification of the gas turbine. The measurement confirmed that all of the criticalrnparameters such as shaft vibration, bearing oil temperature, thrust, compressor startingrncharacteristics, tip clearance, turbine blade metal temperature, etc., met design margins. Therndata were also important for confirming that the overall performance capability and ratedrnperformance can be achieved satisfactorily.rnThis paper describes the design features of the M701G2 gas turbine design, and shop load testrnresults.
