Recent tests show the ease of combining new technology DC power systemsrntogether to create a high reliability system topology in a building block methodology.rnNew critical power systems designed around the fact that today's engine generatorrnsystems, when properly maintained, can come on-line very fast (within 6 - 10 seconds),rncoupled with new cost effective high speed energy storage flywheels, is giving powerrnsystem designers cost saving, higher reliability and reduced maintenance requirementrnoptions.rnHigh voltage DC power distribution allows for the elimination of static switchesrnsince coupling multiple DC sources is as simple as matching output voltages. Today'srnextremely reliable high power DC/DC converters can then provide at a lower cost, morernreliable, noise and harmonic free critical electrical power directly at equipment racks atrn48V, 24V, 6V, 2V or any other desired DC voltage level. This DC distributionrntechnology is already well proven and used on most fighter aircraft, Navy submarines andrnNASA spacecraft.
