Fatigue properties of light alloy cast components are greatly affected and scattered by the presence of defects ad inhomogeneities caused by the casting process.The evaluations of the fatigue strength of Al alloy castings are usually made with empirical parameters and relation-ships that do not lead to an accurate predication of the lower limit of fatigue properties.Moreover the traditional approaches do not allow a distinction between the different effects of the material type the and of the manufacturing process.
