Fatigue crack growth behaviour at elevated temperature in Waspaloy has been in-vestigated using corner notched (CN) and compact tension (CT) specimens.Emphasis has been placed on crack growth pattern and crack front shape as well as crack growth rate,and comparisons have been made accordingly between the two different test geometries.A phenomenon of crack front tunnelling has been observed in both specimens tested under predominantly sustained load at front tunnelling has been observed in both specimens tested under predominantly sustained load at elevated temperature.The degree of crack gunnelling has been found to depend on specimen geometry and loading mode as well as temperature,with the most significant tunnelling occurring in corner notched specimens tested under static load at 700 deg C.Furthermore,fatigue crack growth rate in Cn speimens has been found to be slower compared to that in CT speimens,especially at high stress intensities and high temperatures,Mechanical and environmental aspects are discussed with respect to the crack growth patterns and the associated failure mechanisms.
