摘要

A high cycle multiaxial fatigue criterion based on the distribution in volume of the strain energy density is proposed.The damaging part of this energy is that which exceeds a limit value depending on the material.SEM observations of damage initiation in a spheroidal graphite cast iron and fatigue tests under variable amplitude loadings were used to show this new limit below the usual endurance one.Whatever the loading is,involving a uniaxial or a multiaxial stress state,the predictions of the proposed criterion are loading dependent.This method was tested on smooth cylindrical specimens with several materials; calcuations are in very good agreement with experiments.
