摘要

A strength assessment method is proposed for welded structures using a stress singularity parameter.The cyclic plastic zone size omega ~*,calculated from a stress singularity parameter,is introduced as a criterion of fatigue strength.A unique omega ~*-N curve can be obtained whatever the geometry of the welded structure.Although based on a very simple assumption,the omega ~* term calculated in the present study may be used in a practical strength assessment.The present study calculates the stress singularity parameters from the local strain measured at the weld toe.The proposed method has potential application for strength assessment of welded joints in a CAE system.
