A reverse method was developed to determine the drafts of a pass schedule. With a specific constant bending force, a linear relation between thickness reduction and critical entry/exit crown was found to obtain zero crown ratio change. This linear relation was used to determine the draft of the last finishing pass by selecting the target exit crown and the bending force. By repeating this step, one can determine the drafts of other finishing passes reversely from down stream passes to up stream passes. This method certainly produce flat products after the final pass. It also results in a more uniform load distribution in roughing passes and less total passes.
