In this paper, low pressure radio-frequency (RF) glow discharge plasma and atmospheric dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma were used to treat wool fabric. The effect of plasma treatment was discussed for shrink-proofing property of wool fabric which were treated under different power, time (or pressure) of the two kinds of plasma. The action principles of RF plasma and DBD plasma were analyzed with observation of scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results show that action principles of plasma were different from each other. Therefore the conditions of their process were obviously difference. The wool fabric treated under reasonable condition of DBD plasma can achieve better property of shrink-proofing than that of RF plasma. The two kinds of plasma etched and acted on surface of fibre, so breaking strength and whiteness of wool fabrics didn't change obviously.
