In self-directed e-learning, it is important to diagnosernlearner’s understanding level and give feedback to him.rnThis study aims to construct an ITS which has a functionrnthat diagnoses learner’s understanding level and gives appropriaternfeedback to him. This paper describes a new estimationrnsystem of understanding level with a Tri-valuedrnOutput Cellular Neural Network(T-CNN) for AssociativernMemory. In first experiment, T-CNN could classify all participantsrninto expected understanding levels. We confirmedrnthat the result is valid by consideration of accuracy and answerrntime. In second experiment, we compared estimationrnability of T-CNN with that of linear function(conventionalrnmethod) in accordance with precision. The results providernus that an effectiveness of T-CNN estimation.
