Initial spares confirming is a key element in spares provisioning. At present, the producer provides an initial spares list mostly according to similar products method or FMECA, RCMA, operational and maintenance analysis. Parts unit price, an important influence factor, usually isn't considered. Based on analyzing effect factors, including level of repair, failure rate, parts' unit price, support probability and parts' important degree, of deciding initial spares list, this paper presented a method of confirming initial spares category based on value analysis. Firstly, every effect factor of confirming initial spares was expatiated. Secondly, it was discussed about technical approach of confirming initial spares based on value analysis. Thirdly, spares function evaluation coefficient was presented by fuzzy comprehensive judgment method. Finally, this method validity was validated through an example, which presented a scientific gist for materiel acquisition department.
