A Method to Forecast and Estimate Traffic Demand of Airport Moving Sidewalk

Large airports have the problem of long passengers' walking distance. In order to enhance the level of service and ensure passengers' experience, developing airport automated people mover (APM) system and moving sidewalk systems are the important ways to solve the problem of inter-traffic in large terminals. Moving sidewalk is often used within a terminal while APM system is often used between two terminals or among all terminals. This paper proposes a method to forecast and estimate traffic demand which is suitable for airport moving sidewalk system based on the traditional four-step method. Experimental results prove that the proposed method is reasonable and effective.
