The hydraulic technology has been widely used on hoisting equipment in water conservancy and hydroelectric projects. In recent years, following the development of hydraulic technology, a great deal of progresses have been made in the application of hydraulic hoists. This paper presents some advanced hydraulic techniques applied or will be applied in the shiplock hoists for the Three Gorges Project.
