Gravity field modeling in the case of GOCE is based onrna combination of the SST contribution for the low wavelengthrnpart and on gravitational gradiometry for the spatialrndetails. The gradiomter part of the solution is derivedrnfrom a combination of the gradient components V_(xx),rnV_(yy), V_(zz). Variance components in the domain of sphericalrnharmonics allow the analysis of the characteristic contributionrnof each of these groups of measurements. Inrnthe space domain, the comparison between partially combinedrnsolutions and the fully combined solution showsrnthe functional behavior, corresponding to the error characteristicsrnof the individual components.rnOur preliminary results show that the performance ofrnGOCE is higher than that of GRACE for the coefficientsrnhigher than about degree 145. The posteriori estimationrnof the variance components indicates that the performancernof the gradiometer meets the requirements.
