In this contribution, the focus is set on the global gravityrnfield determination from GOCE gradiometer observationsrnusing a spherical harmonic representation. The keyrncharacteristic of the processing strategy is the use of shortrnarcs of the satellite orbit. The gradiometer observationsrnwithin each arc are decorrelated using an empirical covariancernfunction. By introducing additional empiricalrnparameters into the functional model, the long-periodicrngradiometer error behaviour is taken into account. An adequaternseparation of the gravity signal from the observationrnnoise is crucial in order to exploit the strength of thernsatellite mission GOCE in recovering the static Earth’srngravity field with unprecedented accuracy and resolution.rnThe developed gradiometry gravity field model is validatedrnby comparison with the official ESA models. Thernvalidation results are highly encouraging.
