ESA’s has required that most GOCE L2 productsrnare delivered in XML format. This createsrndifficulties for the users because a Parser written inrnPerl is needed to convert the files to files withoutrnXML tags. However several products, such as therncoefficients of spherical harmonic coefficients arernmade available on standard form through thernInternational Center for Global Gravity FieldrnModels. The variance-covariance information forrnthe gravity field models is only available withoutrnXML tags.rnIt is suggested that all XML products are madernavailable in the Virtual Data Archive as filesrnwithout tags. This will besides making the datarndirectly usable by a FORTRAN program also reducernthe size (storage requirements) of the product tornabout 30 %.rnA further reduction of used storage should be madernby tuning the number of digits for the individualrnquantities in the products, so that it corresponds tornthe actual number of significant digits.
