@@ Celangulin I, a botanical pesticide isolated from the root bark of Chinese bittersweet Celastrus angulatus (Celastraceae) by Wu et al.[1], was reported to posses anti-feedant activity against pests Mythimna separata (Walker), Pieris rapae (Linnaeus), Parnara guttata (Bremer et Grey),Plutella xylostella (Linnaeus) etc. Hannig et al. [2] reported that the speed of action of chlorantraniliprole against target pests, is based on time for feeding cessation. The objective of this study is to apply whole-cell patch-clamp coupled with calcium imaging technique to investigate the relative biological effect and mechanism of action of Celangulin I on calcium channels in the central neurons of Spodoptera exigua (Hiibner).
