Condition based maintenance of hydraulic fluids and lubricants in many cases may be an interesting approach towards minor machine breakdowns, better predictable maintenance and lower service expenses. But what does oil condition monitoring look like today. Which online sensors are available and what about an automated assessment of the condition. This paper tries to give an overview on oil condition monitoring and its potential.
