摘要

The ability to recover aircraft in adverse weather conditions is critical to support military operations. The DoD requires this capability in scenarios ranging from peacetime operations to tactical and special missions to recoveries at sea. Current military land and ship-based systems are becoming increasingly deficient in the areas of transportability, capacity, reliability, and interoperability. The Joint Precision Approach and Landing System (JPALS) program has been established to determine, standardize, and develop a future DoD landing system architecture that meets defined Operational Requirements. This paper describes DoD's activities to date and future plans to meet this objective.
