摘要

This paper presents a decision support tool for optimizing coal distribution from a set of sources to a set of customers. The model optimizes on the basis of after-tax profit, considering the effects of depletion allowances and premium/penalty payments based on coal quality. The goal of the model is to provide a manager with an easy-to-use planning tool. The user interface has been designed to provide the manager with all of the computing power of a mathematical programming tool while hiding the complexities of formulating and operating mathematical programming models. Object-oriented programming techniques are used extensively to achieve this goal.
