As the use of mobile phones grows, spams are becomingrnincreasingly common in mobile communication such asrnSMS, calling for research on SMS spam detection. Existingrndetection techniques for SMS spams have been mostlyrnadapted from those developed for other contexts such asrnemails and the web without taking into account some uniquerncharacteristics of SMS. Additionally, spamming tactics isrnconstantly evolving, making existing methods for spamrndetection less effective. In this research, we propose tornexploit latent content based features for the detection of staticrnSMS spams. The efficacy of the proposed features isrnempirically validated using multiple classification methods.rnThe results demonstrate that the proposed featuresrnsignificantly improve the performance of SMS spamrndetection.
