Communities of practice are important tools forrnprofessional development, encouraging peer-to-peerrnlearning and knowledge creation. This study, which is partrnof a three-year Institute for Museum and Library ServicesrnNational Leadership Research Grant, examined children’srnlibrarians’ perceptions of a community of practice theyrncreated during an extended online, interactive trainingrnprogram. The librarians shared both positive and negativernperceptions of the community that was created during therntraining. Through the interviews it became apparent thatrnwhile creating a community of practice the librarians madernconnections between their collections and shared theirrnlibrary cultures.
