In this study, in order to evaluate the performance of homogenized bauxite, Al2O3-SiC-C castables were prepared by using homogenized bauxite and brown fused corundum as aggregates,respectively.Then 5wt% andalusite was added in two kinds of castables respectively so as to research the action mechanism of andalusite in Al2O3-SiC-C castables.The results showed that: 1) Compared with the brown fused corundum based castables,homogenized bauxite based castables had higher cold strength after heat treatment, but the bending strength at 1400 ℃ for 0.5h was lower.2)Added 5wt% andatusite could improve the cold rupture strength, the high temperature bending strength and the thermal shock resistance, and could also enhance the microstructure of samples.3) When the castables fired at 1100 ℃-1400 ℃, the mullitization of andalusite was not obvious.
