Calcium zirconate was synthesized by one step sintering process using calcium carbonate and monoc1inic zirconia as raw materials.Effect of soaking time on the microstructure, phase composition and properties of calcium zirconate was investigated with XRD and SEM.The results showed that grain growth of calcium zirconate with extension of soaking time was characterized approximately by the formula: y=1216.58 610.13/(1+(x/3.56)2.54).The residual voids, due to decomposition of calcium carbonate at high temperature, played an important ro1e in the formation and densification of calcium zirconate.
