It is an undisputed fact that Developing Countries are at a disadvantage in many ways in international world trade. Just as undisputed is the fact that development can only take place, if and when developing countries participate in international world trade and get a fair chance. Against it stand as ever unjust commercial structures and a protectionism of the industrial nations which is becoming more und more subtle.rnNew prospects have opened up for many producer organizations in the past by the creation of fair trade structures and also due to consumers' increasing interest in products from organic agriculture. A good example is the "cafe organico" and its rising sales. Past existing structures, new trading currents have developed, come into being which - as in the case of an organization like UCIRI - have contributed to genuine development and have improved the living conditions.
