Investigation of Neutronics for CH DEMO Blanket with Helium-cooled Ceramies Breeding Concepts

In order to further identify the outline design for China ITER<'[1]> helium-cooled solid breeder (HCSB) test blanket module (TBM) <'[2]> in view of Chine DEMO goal<'[3]>, investigation of neutronics for a DEMO reactor with helium-cooled ceramics breeding blanket is investigated by means of three dimensional MCNP code<'[4]>. In this paper, three HCSB TBM concepts are suggested and discussed by 1D and 3D neutronics calculation for three types of CH HCSB DEMO blankets are preliminarily studied, then, differences of neutronics between ITER TBM and DEMO are compared and discussed by establishing two kinds of global 3-D calculation models for a fusion reactor. The results show that certain fold of engineering parameters of ITER TBM such as power density can approach to DEMO blanket by changing design. One blanket concept with 3 breeding zones has TBR of 1.11 and is suggested as a candidate of CH HCSB DEM blanket. The effect of different boundary between HCSB TBM and HCSB DEMO blanket is so large that it need be further treated, carefully.
