1. IntroductionThe two-girder steel bridge is a type of cost-effective plate-girder bridge known as a steel bridge featuring high economical effects due to the significant reduction in the number of girders and members. However, the local application of the two-girder steel bridges is still limited due to various reasons including the lack of design samples and guidelines and manuals, shortage of information on high-performance steel, and experience in using such a bridge, including the lack of recognition by the design supervisors. The application of this type of bridge has been recognized as relatively disadvantageous because the man-month (M/M) required for reviewing the design and preparing products is large due to the lack of design work tools including the design programs and the lack of the detailed practical business information. Such recognition and influences could be more specifically analyzed through brief VOC questionnaires distributed to practical engineers regarding the current domestic design of two-girder steel bridges.
