This paper discusses the modification and testing ofrnan existing dynamic thermal model to include therncalculation of the effects of glazing and shadingrnoptions such as slatted blinds. It discusses thernselection and development of algorithms, the testingrnof component sub-models against detailed models,rnand provides comparisons against theoretical andrnmeasured benchmarks. The modified model is foundrncapable of predicting total solar transmission ofrnglazing with mid-pane shading combinations,rnexpressed as a G-value, to ±0.04. Though furtherrnrefinement may be made, this is considered sufficientrnto distinguish between many glazing options faced atrna design stage.
