There is a need for both of thernfollowingrnStandards to be used by industry in SSLrnproduct development to provide consistencernamong products and interchangeabilityrnwhere neededrnReliable, unbiased product performancerninformation to foster the developing marketrnfor high-performance SSL products byrnproviding assurance to users that productsrndo indeed meet their performance claimsrnThe presentation will cover both the USrnDepartment of Energy (DOE) facilitated LEDrnstandards development work and the DOErnCALiPER test program for LED Lamps andrnLuminaires. The presentation willrndemonstrate how these programs arernaccelerating lighting energy savings byrnbringing factual information to thernmarketplace thru the use of standards andrncreditable test programs.rnAlthough these programs are USrnfocused, the SSL products are for the mostrnpart global in nature and the informationrngleamed from the US DOE programs isrnapplicable on a global basis.
