The new Mean Sea Surface DTU10MSS and associatedrnDTU10MDT is presented and evaluated in the ArcticrnOcean for the use with Cryosat-2 data. The DTU10MSSrnis currently the only available MSS which has truernglobal coverage and hence is suitable for referencingrnwhen Cryosat-2 data are used in the Arctic.rnThe DTU10MSS generally has a vertical accuracyrnbetter than 10 cm in most areas of the world confirmedrnby extensive comparison with GPS leveled tide gaugesrnaround Britain and Norway.rnFinally the first comparisons with Cryosat-2 data arernpresented. The DTU10MSS is valuable for Cryosat-2rndue to its true global coverage. On the other handrnCroysat-2 is also important for the evaluation of thernDTU10MSS as it observers at latitudes not previouslyrnmeasured by any satellite.
