Long-term ground deformation monitoring using thernPersistent Scatterer Interferometry Wide Area Productrn(PSI-WAP) technique for the period 1992-2003,rncombined with Differential GPS measurements andrnseismicity analysis has provided useful informationrnabout the tectonic motions of the tectonically complexrnarea of Patras Gulf (Western Greece), and lead to newrninsights on the geotectonic regime of this region.rnDescending ERS radar images were used to compile thernPSI-WAP product that has been calibrated using thernabsolute velocity field of available GPS stations in thernarea. It has been found that the deformation of thernsouthern part of Patras Gulf near the coastline has beenrncharacterized by considerable subsidence (>-5mm/yr),rnwhere unconsolidated sediments usually prevail,rncompared to the northern part of the gulf. Significantrnsubsidence has also been identified in areas along therndown-throw side of possible faults, as well as areasrnwhere extensive ground water pumping has occurred forrnirrigation. These results correlate well with local GPSrnand seismicity data.
