Erosion and deposition of sediments are two fundamental aspects that affect the dynamic balance of a cost, related both to natural and human causes that contribute to the sediment dispersal and accumulation patterns. In particular, a river mouth is the result of the interaction between river flow dynamics, tides and wind wave-induced processes. Undoubtedly, a study of similar phenomena requires the application of numerical models that, given the size of the domains, are computationally very demanding. In the present paper a 2DH numerical model is proposed, in order to investigate the effects of incident waves on jet dynamics. The model solves the bi-dimensional shallow water equation and wave action balance equation to reproduce the interaction between waves and flow. Comparisons with outcomes obtained with a three-dimensional model are shown.
