摘要

The performance of highly doped sesquioxide based ceramics for high energy solid state lasers is firstrndiscussed. We also report on the powder synthesis and the effect of the powder quality and fabricationrnprocess on the optical quality and lasing performance of sesquioxide ceramics based primarily onrnlutetia (Lu2O3). Various powder synthesis methods such as co-precipitation and flame spray pyrolysis,rnand post-process techniques such as jet milling and ultrasonication are also discussed to provide anrnefficient route to obtain fine grained ceramics which are desirable for scaling to high power lasers.
