A simple hybrid method suitable for the numerical simulations of hypersonic flow over blunt body was tested. The hybrid method employs AUSM scheme in the shock parallel direction and Roe scheme in the shock normal direction for the calculation of inviscid numerical flux. Through computational resuls, the hybrid method was found to performbetter than AUSM in terms of convergence and accuracy. Several iterative schemes for time implicit computation were also tested. Numerical reuslts showed that point symmetric Gauss-Seidel scheme was very efficient and robust compared to other schemes such as line Gauss-Seidel and LU SGS.
