This paper is focused on local-repair storms and ACK implosion problems of on-demand based multicast routing protocols in congested Mobile Ad-hoc NETworks (MANETs). Based on tree-specific congestion information, a solution to such problems is also presented in order to suppress both repair and ACK messages without degrading the multicast performance under normal network conditions. We show through ns2-based simulations that the proposed scheme is able to provide substantial improvement in terms of packet delivery ratio, routing overhead, as well as packet delay.
