In this paper, we describe and evaluate a newrnmultiplayer gaming platform, which combines thernstrength of mobile gaming, PC gaming and largernscreens. Mobile phones are used as game controllersrnthat also provide the player with an individual screenrnfor status information, score, game choices etc. Byrnusing a mobile phone as a game controller, it isrnpossible for to give individual feedback to the playerrnsuch as sound, vibration, and graphics. The gamernitself is played via a PC server that displays the gamernon a large screen. This gives a unique social in-thesame-rnroom gaming experience. The paper describesrnan evaluation of the gaming platform as well as arnspecific game, SelFish, where the focus of thernevaluation was on identifying strength andrnweaknesses of the game and the platform related tornsome design recommendations. The evaluation wasrnperformed as a user test where 91 subjectsrnparticipated by playing a game, and then filling out arnquestionnaire. The results reveal some design flaws,rnissues related to the use a mobile phone as a gamerncontroller, and some social effects of the game.
