With the advent of multiple Global Navigation SatelliternSystems (GNSS), many organizations will need to be ablernto evaluate GNSS coverage efficiently. Undergraduaternstudents from the UCLA Research in Industrial Projectsrnfor Students (RIPS) program combined their efforts withrnengineers from The Aerospace Corporation to determinernefficient algorithms for computing the position,rnhorizontal, vertical, and time dilutions of precision.rnFormulas include efficient derivative calculations both forrndetermining time intervals of coverage as well asrnoptimizing positions of satellites to maximize coverage.rnThis paper describes the results obtained from the studyrnand provides generalizations of the results applicable tornmulti-GNSS navigation relying upon different timingrnsystems. The generalizations of the result for multiplernGNSS include efficient formulas for supporting satelliternselection and receiver autonomous integrity monitoringrn(RAIM) algorithms.
